Correlation between wrong dance shoes & muscle pain
Wrong dance shoes is equal to 5 most frequent muscle injuries!
The right dance shoes will prevent the following 5 injuries from occurring in most cases:
1. Muscle Cramp
Wearing the right dance shoes can prevent muscle cramps from occurring. The muscle cramps are not a person's fault but cause the muscle to cramp up causing a lot of pain without the right dance shoes. These can last from a just a few minutes to hours and a person will be upset to say the least.
The treatment that is used to help with muscles cramps is to massage the area. It's also important that the muscle be stretched.
When preventing the muscle cramps in the first place a dancer should be sure to wear the proper dance shoes and to stretch before and after dancing.
2. Muscle Strain
A muscle strain can also be prevented by wearing proper dance shoes. The dance shoes will stop the muscle or tendon damage from occurring in the first place.
In order to treat a muscle strain a person will get plenty of rest, ice, compression and elevation, otherwise known as the RICE method. Pain medicines may be administered and therapy may be needed to assist the dancer to get back to normal.
To prevent muscle strain from occurring is by stretching properly. It's important to do so before and after dancing.
3. Shin Splints
Shin splints are painful and occur in the front of the lower leg and result from pressure to the leg and wearing improper dance shoes. Dance shoes can alleviate the stress that occurs when a dancer is moving across the floor.
When treating a shin splint a person alleviates the pain and restores the muscle back to normal. Many people apply ice three to four times a day.
The prevention of shin splints is to stretch properly before and after dancing, especially the calf muscles. It's also important that a dancer remember to bend their knees when they are landing from a jump or other dance move.
4. Plantar Fasciitis
Dance shoes can prevent plantar fasciitis. The dance shoes help to keep the ligament from becoming injured from the heel bone to the toe.
When treating plantar fasciitis, a dancer will want to use ice. They'll want to reduce the pain and swelling.
To prevent it from occurring, dancers need the proper dance shoes. They should fit correctly.
5. Stress Fracture
Without proper dance shoes, a dancer may experience a stress fracture. If the dance shoes don't fit well, they could cause trauma to the bone.
Treatment is to stay off the feet. The dancer shouldn't do hard dance steps at all.
Prevention consists of a healthy diet. It's also important to have a proper dance routine to adhere to.
