New Beginnings After a Dancing Carrier
Is There Life After Ballroom Dancing?
People of any profession that they are passionate about are eventually going to retire. People often say that if you enjoy what you are doing, it will never feel like work. For most truly accomplished people in any profession, that couldn't be further from the truth. Many people as they get older are going to have to do something else that either is less time consuming or takes less energy out of them. Regardless of how much you may want to continue your passion, it's best to stop before it's too late.
You could be a dance teacher. To be good at this you have to recognize the flaws that you had in the past and see that to improve the other dancers. You could teach them about the importance of dancing shoes and how other shoes are going limit their ability to perform. You can talk to them about basic exercises and flexibility. That would make the more difficult parts of the class much easier. The dance students wouldn't have to spend class time preparing so they can be more flexible.
You could also become a choreographer. When it comes to the films industry, there is always an audience. When people think about choreography, they usually think of martial arts movies. While those are the most popular, they are hardly all it has to offer. You as a the choreography director could come up with ideas on how to show the audience interesting movement. Though the appropriate dancing shoes would have to be used for your desired result. You yourself, would know the limits of what's possible because of you past dancing experiences. This doesn't mean that you have to edit the film, if you're not asked to.
You could choose to become a Yoga teacher. People who want to get in shape often use Yoga as their starting point. You as a former dancer, you should be able to teach people how to stretch properly. Before most dancing sessions, the dancers will often stretch to avoid cramps or soreness after their activities. Your audience, would be a group of people that meet to stretch occasionally. You don't have to exert yourself as much as you did when you were in your prime.
